3 Things I Learned On The Road

Over the course of my life I have spent a fair amount of time traveling. This year has been especially busy with all of the traveling that I have done with my family. Last summer my family and I moved to Orem, Utah, however, since that time we have probably only spent at most about four months in our apartment. We have been living out of suitcases since December, and during that time I have learned a few things.
The first thing that I have learned is that no matter where you are, if your family is with you, then you are home. Even though we have bounced around from place to place this year we have been able to stay together and share some great moments. My two little girls are growing so fast that there is always something funny happening.
The second thing that I have learned is that you don’t need a whole lot of things to be happy. Overall I think that we have been a pretty happy bunch despite living with a limited number of belongings. The couple of times that we have been back to our place in Utah I have realized that we don’t need a lot of the junk that we have. I’ve lived well enough without my stuff for the last several months so if I had to I could probably live without it at all, but with that being said, it is nice to go home and have a full closet.
The third thing that I’ve learned on the road is that you can do a lot with an electric griddle. The apartment we have been staying at in Colorado Springs is a basement apartment with no stove top or oven. We have managed to get by with a hot plate and an electric griddle. The griddle is my favorite. You can fry up eggs, make pancakes, and grill meats pretty easily. I’m planning on keeping that griddle fired up even when we are living in a stable environment.
The travel that we’ve done this year has been a challenge as well as being very stressful, but at least I’ve learned something. I’ve learned that despite the challenges you face, you can always learn something from it, and hopefully pass the lesson on to someone else who needs it.
